Hi! My name is Ana Maria Dominguez-Araya, and I live in Miami, FL. I am an incoming junior attending Coral Reef Senior High School.
I began dancing at the age of 4 and have trained in classical ballet my whole life, as well as in other styles such as lyrical, contemporary, jazz, flamenco, and Chilean Polynesian dance. Overall, dance has had a significant impact on building the person I am today. Aside from this personal interest, I discovered an educational interest in psychology/neuroscience through school, and ever since then, I have been researching and building upon that passion.
I started self-care dance workshops to help other teenagers express themselves, improve their form, and feel more confident. The workshops involve interpreting behavior and feeling through movement, incorporating both dance and psychology.
Each workshop will consist of warm-up exercises followed by stronger exercises, each with a target goal. Since movement is our first form of communication, the movement exercises will provide opportunities for socialization and allow us to express our thoughts and feelings, and overall develop effective communication skills and relationships. Aside from the exercises, a portion of the workshop time will also be dedicated to discussion.
These workshops will take place about once a week, and people attending can expect weekly Instagram posts as well as monthly YouTube videos.
Open for everyone, you do not need to be a dancer to come, our workshops are for everyone to express, create, and connect through the power of dance.
